Adolescent youth can access the Portal in English or French on their smartphone, tablet or computer at popyouth.ca. Upon creating an account, they will immediately have access to a suite of free resources organized into pain, mood, worry, sleep, and substance use categories. Youth are encouraged to complete bi-weekly self-assessments that are located on the check-in page. The results of these assessments will provide recommended resources that can help youth cope when they are in pain and bridge the time until their appointments. They can also choose to discuss these results during their clinic visits, to inform better inform their care and track their progress over time.  

The purpose of this study is to try out the Portal – youth who are between 12-18 years of age, experience chronic pain and are receiving tertiary care at a Canadian chronic pain clinic can participate. If you decide to sign up, you would be asked to do the following:

  1. Answer some online questionnaires (20-30 mins)  
  1. Sign up for the Power over Pain online portal and use the website for up to 4 months.
  1. Answer another set of online questionnaires after 4 months (20-30 mins)
  1. Participate in optional feedback interviews (30-45 minutes)

Compensation

You can complete all study activities from home and will receive a $35 gift card for completing both surveys. You will also receive an additional $25 for participating in interviews and community service hours for your time!
